Netflix unveils the trailer for The School of Good and Evil

Welcome to the School for Good and Evil, led by Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington as its headmistresses.

The fascinating world of fairytale heroes and villains, as first imagined in the well-known Soman Chainani book series, is brought to life in the first teaser for Netflix’s The School for Good and Evil.

The School of Good and Evil

Theron portrays Lady Lesso, who runs the School for Evil and educates bad guys. The principal of the School for Good, which prepares fictional heroes, is played by Washington as Professor Dovey. As the Schoolmaster, Laurence Fishburne explains, “Our graduates live the very real situations that create the stories that alter the world.”

Every so often, a very fortunate outside applicant is chosen for entrance to this revered college, claims Lesso. There are two this year.

Sophie and Agatha, two best friends from the town of Gavaldon, played by Broadway’s Beetlejuice musical star Sophia Anne Caruso and Sofia Wylie of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, respectively, are taken by a strong force to the School for Good and Evil. However, Agatha, who has all the characteristics of a witch, is deposited in the School for Good while Sophie, the golden-haired seamstress who aspires to be a princess, is sent to the School for Evil.

With the appearance of a sinister and perilous character with connections to Sophie’s past, as portrayed by Shadow and Bone actor Kit Young, the situation becomes much more serious. Through her mirror, this being communicates with the young girl as if she were a villainous storybook queen.

She complains, “I’m sick of being sad little Sophie.

This creature responds, “You can be more than you ever thought you could be.” He promises, “You won’t simply be the fairest of them all, you’ll be the strongest,” as Sophie starts to embrace her dark side.

The Schoolmaster cautions that if Sophie turns wicked, none of us will live.

Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron portray the headmistresses of the School for Good and Evil, according to Helen Sloan of Netflix.

The School for Good and Evil, which debuts on October 19, is directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat).

Feig previously told EW that the movie “really speaks to the way that the world is right now.” It was really inspiring and I won’t say easy, but we fed off the creativity of what’s happening in this world in the hopes that we can, through the world of fantasy, make our statement on that. “Somehow we’ve gotten into this very divided place where you’re either on my side or you’re against me, and you’re terrible and I’m good.”
