The 34-year-old Liron Shapira made $6 million from a $10,000 investment in Coinbase.

Shapira recently described cryptocurrencies as "essentially worthless" in an interview with Insider.

and said that it "should all be shut down" — the ideal statement for someone who has stolen millions in the past.

Given the current status of cryptocurrency, Shapira's viewpoint isn't wholly incorrect.

He now aspires to become "the Michael Burry of crypto," referencing to the investment manager who predicted the global financial crisis in 2008.

Shapira invested in Coinbase as one of the company's first investors in 2012, but he sold his shares in 2021, far before the exchange's demise this year.

Since then, he has been a vociferous opponent of the area.

He said to Insider that "Twitter people accuse me of being bitter over crypto." He didn't miss the ferry, I secured the bag, but it still reeks.
